A film born from encounter and practice, it all began when Sofia, living in Spain, shared with me over a shaky video call:
“I had lung metastasis. I just overcame it.”
From that moment, I knew the film had to exist.
With a camera, a notebook, and urgency, I traveled to Madrid. We spent three days by a river, in trust and conversation. The script dissolved into body, breath, and silence.
Later, writer Maria Isabel Iório suggested Sofia should speak to the tumor. It was brutal and beautiful. And that text reshaped the film. We filmed again. We waited. We edited with space for memory and fragility.
What emerged is not only a film about illness, but about persistence, art as transformation, and the dream as cure.
